River of Time's plot is more of a political mystery that's wrapped up in the 'where are the pirate raids coming from'. It does start out slow on that front as most of the beginning quests are there Drakensang The River of Time. River of Time still is on sale from time to time. Steams lowest price was about 5 bucks.
